40-Hour Basic Mediation Training

The 40-Hour Basic Mediation Course, held at the DRC training center, is a 5-day (8:30am - 5:30pm) training offered to the general public several times each year. This highly interactive course has been designed to be fun, participatory and to appeal to a variety of adult learning styles. At the end of the training participants are given documentation of attendance hours for the training which is in compliance with the Alternative Dispute Resolution Procedures Act Texas Civil. Practice & Remedies Code Sec. 154.052. Professional Continuing Education and MCLE credits are available.

Advanced Family Mediation Training 

The Advanced Family Mediation Training, held at the DRC training center, is a 30-hour training fulfilling the Texas ADR Act requirements for mediators doing court-ordered family mediation, and follows the standards set by the Texas Mediator Trainers Roundtable. The sessions include family law, family dynamics, domestic violence, child development, ethical and practical considerations in a combined lecture and role play environment. 40 Hour Basic Mediation Training is required prior to taking this course.

Utilizing The Caucus Model - Advanced Mediation Training 

Utilizing The Caucus Model - Advanced Mediation Training is a day and half training with a focus on:

*When to employ caucus sessions

*How to use caucus sessions

*How to interact with attorneys in a mediation

*How to deal with impasses

40 Hour Basic Mediation Training is required prior to taking this course.

Customized Training

The Dispute Resolution Center also offers a variety of customized training ranging from several hours up to two days. These training's are geared for focusing on conflict within the workplace and collaborative problem solving for community groups. Rates vary according to length, content, and number of participants. The structure includes the use of didactic and experiential training techniques employing hands on practice through out the learning experience.
